The full set
This is part of a college work, where we had to do the visual identity of a type of restaurant, my group picked a sweet-shop.
We ended up choosing a steampunk style for the sweet-shop, and inserting characters into it.
My part was to design the characters, doing the illustrations and patterns.
-- personal note --
As you can see, my gallery is mostly filled with paintings, so lineart and flat colors seens to not really be my thing..(but I thought that this work would be better done in this flat style) before this whole process, I had ..hmm problems with doing lineart digitally, I was fine with my lines in my sketchbook, but it just...didn't work when I would do with a tablet on the computer xD (that Zira character drawing's lineart wasn't done with a tablet)
I like lineart/flat colors, but I just love to paint in a more 'messy way''.
After this work, I was more comfortable with lineart and doing my style on the digital media, so I begun doing more sketches studies and posting them on my tumblr.
To continue improving both lineart/flat colors and painting, I ended up starting my recent paintings in a different way, by sketching; doing a lineart; adding flat shadows; then colors, and THEN, use this as a base for the rendering, it worked surprisingly well, and I will try to keep up with this process, as I end up giving more attention to details that I normaly don't give (by doing the whole lineart before painting)
Well in the end...I was mostly happy with what I was able to learn with the help of this work
